Most delicious Saag recipe 🥗🥬
Saag is a popular dish from North India, made with leafy green vegetables such as spinach, mustard greens, or collard greens, cooked with aromatic spices and served with bread or rice. Here's a recipe for a classic saag dish using spinach:
Ingredients:
2 lbs spinach, washed and chopped
1 onion, chopped
2-3 garlic cloves, minced
1 inch piece of ginger, grated
2-3 green chillies, chopped
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp garam masala
1/2 cup heavy cream or yogurt (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp oil or ghee
Instructions:
1) Heat oil or ghee in a large pan over medium heat.
2) Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
3) Add onions, garlic, ginger, and green chillies. Cook until onions turn translucent.
4) Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala. Cook for a minute or two until fragrant.
5) Add chopped spinach and stir well. Cook for 5-10 minutes until the spinach has wilted and cooked down.
6) Use an immersion blender or transfer the mixture to a blender and puree until smooth.
7) Return the pureed mixture to the pan and add salt and pepper to taste. Add cream or yogurt, if using, and stir well.
8) Cook for another 5-10 minutes until the saag has thickened and the flavors have melded together.
9) Serve hot with naan, roti, or rice. Enjoy!
